Senior Pastor Chet Kwiat & Wife Debra (it's pronounced"k-watt") Pastor Chet was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania and was the 4th of 6 children, 5 boys and the youngest sibling a sister. When he found Christ he was a senior in high school and was attending a Free Methodist Church in New Middleton, Ohio. He was not raised in church but went because the father of the girl he was seeing insisted he must go to church if he was going to date his daughter. So he went, it seemed like a free date. Sunday after Sunday there would be an alter call at the end of the service, finally after many times resisting the call he went forward to confess and receive Christ as his savior. When he graduated from high school he attended college for one year and flunked out. Later that year he married the girl he was going to church with and they moved to Seattle to work in the children's ministry of the Union Gospel Mission. He worked there for over 2 years at other positions, then returned to college at Northwest Bible College in Kirkland Washington. In 1978 he became the youth pastor of the Duvall Evangelical Methodist Church. In 1980 the Senior pastor resigned and so did Chet. He then moved his family of 4 then to the Washington DC area to pastor a Wesleyan church. That did not go well so he moved his family back to Pennsylvania to work with his father driving truck and operating heavy equipment. Later that year he accepted a position as work therapy supervisor at a rescue mission in Westminster Maryland. Then in 1982 he and his family, now of 5, moved to Spring Hill, Florida to start a Wesleyan Church. He pastored there for 3 years when he was called to be the Senior pastor of the Duvall Evangelical Methodist church. There he served for 17 years. During that time he served on several district and national boards, as well as time as Northwest District Superintendent. A personal family crisis forced him to resign the church. After he resigned, he did some work in construction, then moved to Zambia, Africa for nearly a year to work on a mission farm organizing a Bible school to train local men to be pastors and leaders in their churches. When he returned from Africa he married Debra and they lived in Duvall for a while until moving to Bellingham, Washington to open a fitness center business. That was going well until a major health crisis occurred when Chet had a brain aneurysm. He was forced to sell the fitness center and went to work part-time for a local airline while he sought to return to pastoral ministry. Now Pastor Chet is blessed to be the pastor of the Arizona City Evangelical Methodist Church. The words God spoke to Israel are now made true even for Pastor Chet: "Forget th3e former things, do no dwell in the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV
